What Guna Milan is
Guna Milan is the classical Vedic method of checking marriage compatibility from two people's Moon charts. It scores eight factors (kootas) out of a maximum of 36 points.
The 8 kootas
Varna (1), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7) and Nadi (8) — each measures a different layer of compatibility, from temperament to health and progeny.
What the score means
Below 18 is classically not recommended; 18–24 is workable; 25–31 is a strong match; 32+ is rare and excellent. But the total is one factor for reflection — never a verdict on a relationship.
Manglik & dosha cancellation
Nadi and Bhakoot doshas, and Manglik (Mangal) dosha, carry classical cancellations (parihara) — so a low koota or a Manglik flag is often neutralised. Read the whole chart, not one number.
